Here's an interview I got to conduct with the band As December Falls. Definitely have a listen to their single 'Capture' after you've learnt a little more about them. Here are the answers: How did you guys meet one another?
We all met through our bassist Timmy. He knew Lukas from college, Ande from playing in previous bands and met Bethany through a friend.
How was the band name created?
It essentially reflected the time when the band formed which was December 2013. The first EP was written and we finally had a full line up.
How would you describe the music that your band creates?
It's really not something that we like to box in but each song really reflects our mood or how we feel at that time. We never set out to capture a set genre. But for people unfamiliar with our songs we would say pop-rock with a more alternative edge to it.
What are some of the themes and messages that come across in your songs?
Every song is different but themes we have touched on in the past; dealing with self-confidence, being trapped in relationships and over coming circumstances that are trying to hold you back.
What are your plans for 2015?
We're in the studio in September to record our next EP and then aiming to book some shows abroad.
Finally, if there was only one album that you could listen to for the rest of your life which one would you choose and why?
Kanye West - Yeezus. Because Kanye.

Here's an interview I got to conduct with a good college friend of mine Kymberely Kennedy as well as the rest of the members of her band. Read what the band members have to say on their formation of a band to what their future plans are. Hopefully you'll enjoy their sense of humour too! Here's the answers to the questions that I asked them:
How did you guys meet one another?
Dave:
I bundled them
all into the back of a van and drove to London ...true story.
Miles:
Through the wonders of the
Internet! Girl needs guitarist. Girl gets her dreams answered.
Andrew: At a swingers party
Kymberley:
You wish it was a swingers party! I've known Andrew for years and I met
Michaela and Dave through mutual friends. What Miles said is true through. We
met through an advert I posted online for a guitarist and the rest, as they
say, is history.
How would you describe the music
that your band creates?
Miles:
This is the hardest
question! Soul-y funky alternative R&B. Add that as a genre iTunes...
Andrew:
A mixture
of R&B with an electronic vibe
Kymberley:
Pretty much exactly that.
What are some of the themes and
messages that come across in your songs?
Miles:
That in the middle of a
blackout you shouldn't get smothered in gravy.
Kymberley: *laughs* The
lyric is 'craving' not 'gravy'! I
think a lot of the songs have similar themes oflove, sex, regret and sorrow. You can write a lot with just those 4
topics.
What are your plans for
2015?
Miles: Festivals and radio! And videos.... Acoustic ones.
Andrew: Lots of gigging around the country and building on our fan base
Kymberley:
We've got some live sessions coming up in August, plus some shows on festival
circuit. We've got a showcase at The Garage, London in September and we've just
released an EP, All I Wanted.
There'll be another two EPs out later this year alongside the release of our
first official music video.

A weekend in the city by a Bloc Party.
To
me it signifies how lyrics can be so well complimented by atmospherics from a
band.

Hope you guys are all doing well. Sorry about the lack of activity on here but hopefully it'll pick up. Here's an interview that I got to conduct with the lead singer, Tarin, and the guitarist, Nick. If you like your metal music then stick around to check out the music video. Learn about how the band started, what their plans are for the rest of the year and what music they love. Here are the answers to the questions I sent them:
How did you guys meet one another?
Tarin: I put an advert out to start a band when I started studying at Exeter university that's how I met Matt. I remember the first time we met he was wearing a baseball cap and looked like Fred Durst! I've known Nick since college so I asked him to join the band as I needed a guitarist, he was already in an awesome band, a really talented song writer and I stole him! Hehe! We met Ross through our best mates he tried out for the band a few years ago, Ross was recommended to us as "probably one of the nicest people you'll meet, and a bloody good bassist!"
Nick: Tarin started Sanguine in Uni but we changed line up until we settled on this one - it's never been better - we're best friends and connect musically
How was the band name created?
Tarin: we didn't want to invent a word and we didn't want to be named “Flying Death Sh*t” or anything too depressing, that's just not us! Sanguine means two things: to be of an optimistic demeanour, and, the colour of blood. Both things we love. To be 'sanguine' means something, but in the English language it's a underused word.
Nick: We didn't feel like one thing musically so we wanted a name that reflected that. Sanguine has multiple meanings.
How would you describe the music that your band creates?
Tarin: Eclectic and heavy! We write songs influenced by metal, punk and rock music. People have called us alternative metal but that doesn't always cover what we do on our albums, Black Sheep also features acoustic guitars and strings. We can play coffee shops in the day time and metal gigs at night. We just love music and can't contain ourselves to just playing one style of song.
Nick: Eclectic and heavy at times - we like loads of stuff. A lot of us write, so ideas flow easily. I guess it reflects how we feel at the time - people have more than one emotion so it makes sense to me to have different types of song! I find it hard to stay in one mode, and I think there are too many albums out there that sound like one enormous song! In Sanguine, each song is its own world... then we move the fuck on!
What are some of the themes and messages that come across in your songs?
Tarin: all sorts of stuff. Whatever inspires us at the time of writing. Sometimes I write a song and ask myself what it's about and it dawns on me that it’s something that has been playing on my mind emotionally, it's like my unconscious mind works out the words before my conscious mind catches up. Other times you get a song that starts with a phrase you set out to talk about. For example Social decay was written to comment on the idea that our society is decaying. It's a rhetoric that has been around for years - the world's going to end, we're all going to die! This is Social Decay. You've heard it all before because our governments want us to stay scared, "do what we say, stay inside, don't think, just conform, don't break these made up rules, just carry on shee-p-eople!"
Nick: The first song we put out is called 'Social Decay' - it's a heavy, rough around the edges sort of song - the video is making a point about social control and propaganda. It's having a poke at the hysteria that surrounds certain topics, in this case weed, but it could be anything. It takes a long time for people to evolve and accept change.
What are your plans for 2015?
Tarin: big plans are set for 2015. We release our album this October in the UK, Europe and Japan. We've got an amazing crew behind us, thanks to teams at Visible Noise, Odyssey Music and The Leaders! We're setting up plans to tour in each of these areas...it's going to be awesome!
Nick: Tour, record, party... We're all best friends so go wherever 'it' goes. We're heading out to Los Angeles and Las Vegas next month. Sanguine's got an exciting year planned

Tarin: not fair...really? 1 album? Wow that's hard. Get back to you on that one!....mmm...Is this the only music you can listen to for the rest of your life? Because if it was I would ask each of the people I love and respect to sing me their favourite tune and I'd make an album out of that!
Nick: Does that include Greatest Hits Albums?!! - Probably Pink Floyd 'Dark Side Of The Moon' - that would be a fucking depressing life!

I got contacted by Kristian of the band Wolf Gange for an interview. First off, thanks to Kris for contacting me and if other bands are interested in contacting me my details will be below this interview. Here's what Kris had to say about the beginnings of Wolf Gange, how he thinks the band has plenty of potential to develop and what their plans are for the rest of the year. Here's the answers to the questions that I asked him:
How did you guys meet one another?
The band has gone through a whole load of line up changes, and the only one who has been in every one is me, Kristian. One of our bassists, Joss, left, and I talked to Robert, who had recently joined the same school as me, and he agreed to play bass, and to sing. And I met Morgan on Facebook, just asking in general if anyone can play guitar and would be willing to play in a band, as we had lost both our guitarists and were having real problems finding a reliable replacement. HE seemed perfect fort he job, and could really play, from what we could see. We also have a keyboardist, whom we've been friends with for a while.
How was the band name created?
We were called Rommel. after a German WWII leader, but I decided to change the name to 'Wolfgange', I guess just becasue it sounded cool, and it has ties to Germany, as well as the connotations of 'gang', and us being a band and all. There wasn't really too much thought put into it to be honest.
How would you describe the music that your band creates?
Well, so far it's just really been Punk Rock, a quite basic and primal kind of sound. But we're not really sure about what changes are going to be made with our new guitarist, we're thinking of experimenting more with things like Metalcore.
What are some of the themes and messages that come across in your songs?
Our songs mainly tend to deal with socio-political themes, we've got songs about oppression, political agendas, and even the Isreal-Palastine conflict. But, then again, we haven't got all that many songs, and with a new guitarist, who really knows what changes are going to be made?
What are your plans for 2015?
We're probably gonna change our sound a bit, expand into fields anew. What with the improvement of our bassist's skills, he really want's to play some more complicated stuff, and we want to experiment with some more metal stuff, and even branch out what kind of songs we're covering. But, to be perfectly honest, we're not 100% sure where the rest of the year is going to take us, what with the recent changes and turmoil the band hace experienced. But whatever happens, we're planning on staying together and just making music as well as we possibly can.

Well, the band does have a Facebook page, a twitter page, youtube, and we have a website, with our videos and soundcloud recordings on. Just typing in 'Wolfgange' should lead you to any of them, even if you just type them into Google.
Finally, if there was only one album that you could listen to for the rest of your life which one would you choose and why?
Kristian Krowley - I would have to go with Avenged Sevenfold's "City of Evil" as it really shows the amazing drumming skills of the late, Jimmy "The Rev" Don't forget some kick ass songs like Bat Country!
Robert Williams - I would have to choose Rage Against The Machine's eponymous debut, to be honest. Those songs never get old, I could listen to those things endlessly. Hell, I could just listen to 'Killing In the Name Of' alone for the rest of my life. Everything about it is right, the bass line is banging, the guitar solo's are great, the politics are spot on, and of course, there's the 'fuck you' bit right near the end. \Classic. Nothing betters it...

Here's an interview I got to conduct with Richard Gill from the band of Religion of Tomorrow. Read on to find out how they met, what their messages and themes are in their song and also where you can buy their album 'In Theory'. You can check out their music video down below. Here's the questions and answers that Richard emailed me:
How did you guys meet one another?
Line Up: Karl Christian - Vocals, Jordan Charters - Guitars, Richard Gill - Bass, David Kavanagh - Drums.
Karl (Vocals) and Jordan (Guitar) were already part of the incarnation of Religion Of Tomorrow when i was approached to come in and play Bass, i was working with Karl at the time, various comings and goings have taken place since; mainly in the drums department.
How was the band name created?
Like i mentioned Religion of Tomorrow was a band in the working, after the majority of the original ideas and personnel disappeared, leaving Jordan as the only member from that time, we thought rather than change the name we would give it an identity. Each band member probably explains it slightly different but the idea is the same, Religion of Tomorrow is the idea that the modern world is obsessed with media, technology, celebrity and product )Mcdonalds, Apple, One Direction and the likes of X-Factor for example), hence a sort or religion of tomorrow?
How would you describe the music that your band creates?
We have had people try and pigeon hole us and liken us to other acts, but they are very varied attempts and none have ever stuck, so we go with alternative rock.
What are some of the themes and messages that come across in your songs?
We have been described as "thoughtful" in the press, this came from the lyrical content on subjects such as religion, war, depression, self harm, murder, take your pick, though you would have to talk to Karl to get anything more.
What are your plans for 2015?
We have quite a few shows taking us until new year including 2 festival performances in one day, our aim will be to release something before next summer, whether that will be a couple of EP's or a follow up to 'In Theory' we will have to wait and see?

Look at me posting two interviews in one day! Go me! Here's an interview with the band Church & Ivory. A two-piece acoustic band with plenty of potential. Here's the online interview that I conducted with Matthew Church where he talks about how the band first met, how they came up with their band name and where you can find them on social media. You can also find a video down below where they play the song 'Protest Song'. Here are the questions and the answers that Matthew kindly emailed to me:
How did you guys meet one another?
We first met at school almost ten years ago, we were probably only nine or ten years old and didn’t properly become friends till a few years later. If I remember correctly we impressed each other by being the only two people who could play parts of the Sweet Child of Mine solo… We started a band shortly after and have been making music together for the last six or seven years.
How was the band name created?
We have had some serious issues with band names in the past, it’s always been something that we’ve always terrible at. We could never stick to one name. Our previous bands name evolved though the years by us just adding words to it only to then abbreviate it and start to get known as “TANI”. We changed our name again shortly after mistakenly getting introduced on stage as “Tina” at a show in Southampton… So this time we tried not to think about it too hard, Church & Ivory is just our surnames. We had been listening to quite a bit of Simon & Garfunkel at the time and their name inspired us.
How would you describe the music that your band creates?
At the moment we are just two guys with guitars so it’s quite easy to fit the folk aesthetic but I’d like to think our songwriting and ethos has a bit of punk in their too, not necessarily in a musical sense though, our music is very much lyrically driven. We’re heavily influenced by artists like Bruce Springsteen, Frank Turner and The Milk Cartoon Kids.
What are some of the themes and messages that come across in your songs?
There is a running theme in our debut EP which is that most of the song are about our homes, what makes a home and the friends and family around us. We have a song which is directly written about and for the friends I left when I moved away from my hometown. There is another song the the EP which is about coming back to your hometown for the first time after being away for a while and finding that while things have moved on without you, it’s still the same place you grew up in and hasn’t changed much at all. We are hoping that people can relate to these songs, especially those of a similar age to us who study or live away from their hometowns.
What are your plans for 2015?
The biggest plan we have this year so far is to head into the studio and record the best EP we possibly can. We’ve approached some really talented musicians to come and play on it with us and we’re not going to stop until we are really happy with the final outcome. Then, once we have some material down and released we plan to head out and play as many shows as we can sharing our songs to who ever cares to listen!
If there was an album that you could listen to for the rest of your life which one would you choose and why?
Matt: This answer could change on a daily basis for me but today I’ll go with The Times They Are A-Changing by Bob Dylan. Every song on that album is a work of art, Boots Of Spanish Leather is one of the best songs ever written, in fact every song on that album is one of the best songs ever written!
James: For me there is not one album I could listen to for the rest of my life, it changes too frequently. However at the moment I cannot stop listening to Trasatlanticism by Death Cab For Cutie, every song is flawless.
