Red Ink Online Interview

Hey guys. I hope you guys are alright. Today we're here with the Aussie band Red Ink and they tell us how they formed and what they believe the meaning to their songs are. If you want to learn more about this band read on:

How did you guys meet one another?
We all met a very long time ago.. in 2002. Brendan and John were in the same music class at school.. Joel and AJ had always been local muso’s as well. Growing up on the Mornington Peninsula; you pretty much know everybody down there.

How was the band name created?
We’d been gigging for months without a name and then one day we saw a car drive past with RED INK as the number plate.. As stupid as it is; that’s where the name came from.

How would you describe the music your band creates?
I suppose we like to think we are a rock band who make interesting pop music.. Put simply; if INXS, The Cure, The Clash and U2 had a lovechild; we’d probably be friends in school..

What are some of the themes and messages that come across in your songs?
It changes with every release.. At the moment, with the new record, something thats popping up a bit is the whole ‘growing up’ thing.. John had his first child this year and that has definitely brought a new perspective to songwriting.. It’s not all about girls and parties anymore.

What are your plans for 2016?
We’ve nearly finished our second record, so i suppose we will look to release it and do some shows. We’ve been hiding the past year while babies happened so it will be good to get back out into the real world.

Where can people find you on social media?
Instagram @redinkrock or facebook @redinkmusic
We’ve got heaps of videos on youtube as well @redinkmusicgroup

Finally, if there was only one album you could listen to for the rest of your life which one would you choose and why?
Ooh probably silent alarm by Bloc Party.. It’s perfect. Theres the party songs, but there’s also the melancholy numbers.. That record will live forever.
