Signals. Online Interview

Hey guys! I hope the start of your week is doing well for you all. Today were here with the band Signals. Read on if you want to find out more about how they formed and what they've got planned for 2016:

How did you guys meet one another?

I (Ryan) first met Mikey at football training when we were 6, we started secondary school together when we were 11 and started (attempting) to jam together when we were 14. Although, we really started out in college when we met Ellie. We sort of fell into being a band through working together for various college projects and realised that we were all fairly similarly minded and all liked the same kind of music. Then we met our bassist, Alex, at Platform One on the Isle of Wight, where conveniently we all went to do a music degree, and thats when everything really clicked into place and the band felt complete.

How was the band name created?

The name actually came from our Final Music Project at college, where we had to put a band together give it a name and do a gig. At the time we never realised that 4 years later we would still be working together, so just chose the first name that we came up with that everyone agreed on. If we knew then what we know now…

How would you describe the music your band creates?

Ohhh a classic tough one… If we were a sauce we'd be honey mustard - a little sweet, a little spicy. It's a tricky one to say though really, often people refer to our music as 'MathPop', which we're certainly not unhappy with.

What are some of the themes and messages that come across in your songs?

Our songs are fairly open to interpretation really, there's metaphors galore in there! I'd say generally they can be quite dark and sarcastic, but I'll leave that for you to decide.

What are your plans for 2016?

NEW MUSIC
NEW TOUR
NEW MERCH

Where can people find you on social media?

Finally, if there was only one album you could listen to for the rest of your life which one would you choose and why?

Such a tough question! If I had to pick for everyone, I would have to say 'From Indian Lakes - Absent Sounds'. Incredible album, go listen to it!

Thank you to Ryan from Signals for answering these questions. If any other bands would like to be featured on this blog please email me at rachelcolley@msn.com and I will send you the questions. Thanks to Ryan again.
