Dutch Criminal Record Online Interview

Hi guys! Here's another blog post for you! Today you get to read and learn about the guys from Dutch Criminal Record. Once you've had a read through of this interview go and check out their music down below:

How did you guys meet one another?

We met each other at school but didn't become good mates until we were about 14 and all in the same music class. We started the band to enter the school battle of the bands and it just escalated from there!

How was the band name created?

Well we needed a name for the battle of the bands competition and Alex our drummer had been on an interesting football trip to The Netherlands...

How would you describe the music your band creates?

Upbeat, Indie/Surf, full of riffs, harmonies, booming bass and funky drums!

What are some of the themes and messages that come across in your songs?

We try to write about a variety of things because there is nothing more boring than loads of love songs or whatever. I mean we do have some kind of songs about girls like Outside and Corona but then you have Painted Gold which is about trying to shake ourselves out of wishing things away hoping for the future or thinking the past is better than it was! Or southsea which is about helping a friend out of depression. Whatever we write we make sure the lyrics mean something which is why they usually take the longest to write!

What are your plans for 2016?

Now is the time for getting festival slots-hopefully we will get some! To be honest we want to focus on writing some really cool music and enjoying things rather than aiming to high and getting disappointed.

Where can people find you on social media?

Here is our website: dutch.criminal.record@gmail.com
Search our name on Facebook, Instagram, iTunes and Spotify!

Finally, if there was only one album you could listen to for the rest of your life which one would you choose and why?

All of us would probably choose different albums here are the tough choices!

Joe: The Beatles, A Hard Days Night
Sam: Coldplay, Parachutes
Alex: The Libertines, Up The Bracket
Rio: Van Morrison, Moondance
