The Paradimes Online Interview

Hi guys! Two interviews in one day! Aren't you lucky! This time we're hearing from the Ska and Reggae band The Paradimes on how they formed, how they would describe their sound and what their plans are for the next year. Read the answers down below to learn more about them:

How did you guys meet one another?

The band was formed out of a previous outfit called the Stiff Naked Fools. Once that had finished, some of the core members of that band joined forces with members of El Pussycat, the Specials and the South to add a brass section and percussionist and that was the first incarnation of the Paradimes! It has changed and evolved since then but our ethos remains the same.

How was the band name created?

We've never really been able to remember to be honest! The different spelling is deliberate but we may have to come back to you with an actual story on that one...

How would you describe the music your band creates?

The most important thing to us has always been that we create music that swings, as all the people we admire have done that. We also like to think that we put together honest songs with a strong sentiment, and pride ourselves on an energetic delivery of them live.

What are some of the themes and messages that come across in your songs?

We've always tried to steer away from a political element in our songs, but some are a social commentary whilst the others are about real feelings that resonate with people regardless of their situation or background - life, love, spirit and happiness.

What are your plans for 2016?

We can honestly say that 2016 is going to be our most exciting year to date. Not only will we be touring our brand new album, Sweet & Dark, which we are really proud of, but having worked with some of the foundation artists of our genre including Derrick Morgan, Stranger Cole and Lee 'Scratch' Perry, we'll be on tour with Dandy Livingstone. As well as backing him we will be playing our own set on the same bill with the Original Rudeboy Neville Staple, and playing on possibly the best line up we've ever been part of at One Big Day Out on the May bank holiday with the Brand New Heavies, Neville also and legendary selecta David Rodigan at Demontfort Hall Gardens! We will also be appearing at many festivals up and down the country and have plans to release at least two singles, so we're incredibly excited about 2016!

Where can people find you on social media?

Finally, if there was only one album you could listen to for the rest of your life which one would you choose and why?

Tough one! Although we're inspired by many great albums from different genres, it would have to be a Monty Python album as laughter is the most important thing in life.

Thanks to the guys from The Paradimes for answering the questions and thanks to the manager for relaying the answers. If any other bands would like to be featured on this blog then please email me at rachelcolley@msn.com and I will send you the questions.
